Our investments in online media have been among our most successful. Our focus is on Consumer Internet companies. We invest in digital media, e-commerce, social networks, platforms, SaaS, online media, gaming, and other web-based businesses. Our portfolio companies have built an impressive network of content sites and online communities that reach hundreds of millions of enthusiasts and decision makers each month.

Internet Infrastructure

As the unabated growth of the Internet marches onward so do the demands on Internet Infrastructure. One key driver behind this trend is that increasingly tools and applications developed for personal use (social networks) are quickly being adapted for business use and conversely business tools (file storage, web applications, VOIP) are now being used by individuals. The result is an ever-increasing need for technological innovations that increase efficiency. Hedgewood is especially interested in funding innovations in network connectivity, storage devices and server applications.

Mobile Applications

To say that the Apple iPhone has been a game changer is an understatement. Apple single-handedly created the mobile application market and, even with competition from the likes of Google, RIM, Microsoft and Palm, continues to be the dominant player. Hedgewood invests in mobile application development. We will only invest with entrepreneurs who understand that the no matter how incredibly “hot” the market is – there still has to be a realistic path to profitability.
