Private Equity

In addition to its investment in Private Equity Funds, Hedgewood makes direct private equity investments. We are flexible on the ultimate method of investing, such as equity, debt or hybrids, and are interested in special situations such as going-private opportunities, recapitalizations, restructurings and private placements. However, we typically purchase a minority share in a business, giving it needed capital to achieve growth ambitions or restructure shareholdings.

Cleantech/Renewable Energy

Hedgewood supports and invests in companies focused on developing innovative ideas within the cleantech/renewable energy sector. We are especially interested in new technologies in solar power, photovoltaics, biofuels, fuel cells, carbon capture, wind power, hydro power, geothermal, energy efficiency and any new sources of alternative energy or renewable power.

Medical Technology

Hedgewood looks for early stage medical device and technology investment opportunities that have the potential of providing revolutionary advantages to the medical industry. The technology must be novel, at least in its application, such that there is the potential for robust intellectual property protection. It must also either create an entirely new treatment modality or represent a substantial improvement over the current gold standard.

When we acquire a minority interest in a company, we do so with a mindset of also providing advice and support to the business operators.
